Part 10

Following the engineering line was simple enough after that, though he jumped at every sound. This paid off once while he traveled. He heard a vent crash from the ceiling, turned and fired a shot, admittedly wide, as one of the quicker monsters fell and landed on top of one of the standard toothy things. They both seemed dazed from their impact, and Kevin capitalized on that fact by putting two rounds into each of them, and then another into the large one, just to be sure. He really didn't need either of them coming to and sinking their gnarly teeth into him, especially since he no longer had a medkit.     Something moved, and he leveled the pistol at it again. A kachunk sounded as a door attempted to close, caught on a corpse, re-opened, and tried again with another kachunk. Looking inside the room, he saw rows of weapons lockers. He stepped into the room making sure he cleared the corners before he looked through what remained of the armory.     For t...

Part 9

He opened the medkit, keeping his ears open to and alert for sounds around him. He was sure he was alone right now, but that could change at a moments notice, especially since the creatures could use the vents to move around.     The medkit was standard: small bandages, scissors, gloves, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, gauze pads and medical tape, some painkillers, and other odds and end that he was pretty sure he wouldn't need. He sanitized and applied rubbing alcohol to a cloth. He bit back a yell as he cleaned as much of the wound as he could. "Gods this hurts..." he said quietly to no one.. He placed the gauze pads as best he could without being able to see the wound, taped it into place, and then did similarly to the much less grievous leg wound, and was finally finished. He chuckled at the thought of bandaging some of the smaller cuts and scrapes, but realized that he didn't know what kind of grime and bacteria might make their way into his system. ...

Part 8

Kevin walked down the steps onto the bridge, keeping an eye out for more of the monstrosities. He was sure he had cleared the floor, he could even see the corpse of the alpha creature, but he couldn't be too careful while these things were on the ship.     He took stock of his knowledge of the situation: aliens of an unknown origin had gotten on the ship, and they seemed to be able to reproduce quickly; the engines were offline, and the previous person that was sent to bring them back online hadn't been heard from in some time; the communications array was also malfunctioning, possibly irreparably; and he was very, very claustrophobic. The last one didn't really matter in the long run, but since it was one of the few things he knew about himself, it mattered to him. Small bits of information were important when you couldn't remember anything else.     Kevin moved into the hallway, thankfully the door opened from this side, and thankfully seemed t...
